Bike sharing in Lucca, the test of free parking outside the center begins

The municipal council approved the experimental modification of the bike sharing servicewhich provides the modality for 20 days free flow outside the city walls, i.e. the free release of bicycles without the limits of virtual stations. An initiative aimed at further promoting the use of the bicycle as an alternative vehicle for short journeys in a sustainable way for people and the environment. After the experimental period, the municipal administration and Ride Movie, the company that has managed the service in the municipal area since October, based on the results and feedback obtained, they will decide whether to continue with this method which favors convenient use of the service.

The work of. therefore continues with dynamism and numerous initiatives RideMoviwhich has stood out in recent years at European level as a reference for the innovation of sustainable micromobility, with over 30 thousand vehicles across the continent and more than 3 million downloads of the dedicated app and brought a fleet of 400 eBikes and 100 Lites (muscle pedal bicycles) to the municipal area.

The service, increasingly used by visitors and citizens, is carried out in Lucca in an operational area well calibrated with respect to the characteristics of the urban fabric and develops in the order of approximately 10 kilometers from the historic centerso as to be able to provide a service accessible to as many users as possible, with the aim of including small portions of peripheral areas of the town center located along relevant road routes or near specific points of interest, including the most important car parks for city ​​mobility.
