Cleaning in the ‘living room’, the Consortium asks for more

A cleaner center and more efficient separate waste collection. “Especially on weekends, the influx of visitors to the central area is considerable. If we then think that the bridges will bring many tourists to spend several days in the city and frequent the centre, we believe it is necessary to strengthen the cleaning of the central area” stated Maurizio Metto president of the Ceccarini Consortium. The Consortium would also be available to ‘do it yourself’, as in the past when the initiative of the traders brought pensioners complete with trolley and broom to guard the centre. The papers disappeared. “We tried to propose it again a couple of years ago, but they told us that Hera had the contract and we couldn’t clean it up. Having said that, we believe that there are interventions to be carried out”. In the centre, there is no shortage of long faces. “People are interested in safety and cleanliness – stated Massimiliano Giusti of the Antonia boutique –. In general in the city we cannot talk about cleanliness, unfortunately. And more must be done in the center too. I don’t understand why we cannot proceed with our own initiatives to have operators who walk around during the day with those machines that vacuum waste paper and other things. They are everywhere, why not here?”.

A similar service has existed in the historic center of Rimini for years. Not in Viale Ceccarini today, “but it would be useful – continues Metto -, just as bins for separate waste collection would be useful. Today a service of this type is also an image because it testifies to the care and attention one has towards one’s city and the environment”. In recent days, the door-to-door waste collection carried out for businesses has also created some discontent. What was contested was the placement of several bins in the evenings and nights awaiting collection, positioned next to the statue of Maria Boorman Ceccarini. “Objectively we cannot talk about degradation in the center – stated Mauro Bianchi for the Riccione entertainment consortium -, however we can always do better. First of all I would invite all operators to keep the front of their business clean. Then we would need bins for recycling and even a continuous service would help. The Consortium calls for more common sense and less bureaucracy. “If we can’t set up a service with an operator to clean the area – continues Metto –, let someone do it. There are machines that, in addition to vacuuming, wash if necessary. These are services that tourist cities have”.
