Directly from the Dominican Republic, Martino Di Simo, a true Lucca native who has now moved overseas and an assiduous reader of the Gazzetta, sends us a series of images taken many years ago when the Giro d’Italia found itself passing over the Walls:
Good morning director,
I’m sending you the photos of the Giro d’Italia that I took many years ago, I don’t think it’s the 1985 tour (in those days I was completely absorbed by racing cars) but from a few years earlier because I should have taken them with my first car photographic Voigtländer Vito C purchased in via Nuova in Lucca, but I don’t remember the name of the photographer (old age plays tricks on me, can you remind me?). On the case there is still the signature of Gino Bartali who I met at the arrival of the Giro in Viareggio. I hope that those who have a better memory than me and know cycling will be able to recognize the various riders. It would be interesting if some readers recognized themselves or parents or relatives.

Here you are satisfied, dear Martino, and it seems to me that I even recognized in the photos a former member of the state police who retired some time ago.
