In the last five months, nine deaths have occurred on the state road 100 which connects Bari to Taranto and which is among the busiest in Puglia, in the Gioia del Colle-Mottola-Massafra stretch. Numbers to which we cannot remain indifferent and for which targeted and immediate interventions are needed. This is why Casartigiani Taranto believes that the solutions proposed by political leaders in the last few hours, on the free stretch and the provision of speed cameras to limit speed, would be pro tempore and not definitive and would not in fact solve the age-old problem of road safety.
Casartigiani Taranto has repeatedly denounced these critical issues given that its hauliers travel every day on these road sections without guarantees of safety.
The entire South needs targeted interventions and not temporary solutions. We therefore hope that a table involving all institutional, political and trade associations will be established as soon as possible, to reach concrete and immediate solutions regarding the financing derived from the competent ministries”.
