The Report Cards | Cagliari: Mina and Luvumbo amazing, shame about Dossena
Descriptive text here

Our evaluations of the rossoblù of Claudio Ranieri after the race Unipol Domus between Cagliari and Juventus valid for round number thirty-three of the A league. The match ended with the Sardinians coming back to equalize 2-2, with goals from Mina and Gateano (click here for the complete match report).

Scuffet 6 – His first half was all about a prompt response with his body to Weah’s close but central shot, otherwise Juventus never worried him. In the second half he didn’t seem to deploy the block well on Vlahovic’s free kick and was caught too easily.

Hatzidiakos 7 – Ranieri confirms it and in the first half explains to everyone why: Sir Claudio’s treatment has an effect on him too. Attentive and precise when retreating, tough when marking and also proactive when in possession. Another confirms itself in the second half, even when Juventus raises the pace. (from 87′ Wieteska SV – In at the end to replace an exhausted Hatzidiakos).

Mine 7.5 – The birth of girls named Mina has been steadily increasing from January to today. And there must be a reason. He starts with the desire to annoy everyone, even the Juventus warehouse worker. And all the Bianconeri in turn fall into his trap. Mina limits very well throughout the first half and is cold from the spot. The ballet is less beautiful, but it’s exciting.

Dossena 5.5 – Ranieri puts him back on defense from the first minute and he picks up where he left off: first half always played with the maximum alert level and without letting anyone pass at the border. Unlucky and careless in the second half, he first loses the ball and then in a split on the same action he sends an own goal into the net which weighs heavily. In the economy of the match and in its report card. It’s sad to see him on the ground in tears at the end. He will come out stronger.

Nandez 6.5 – He comes back from suspension and shows everyone that if he rests for a week his engine runs three times faster than everyone else on the pitch. He goes back and forth and throughout the first half his support is important to limit the Juventus lane which should be a territory for Chiesa to conquer but instead it isn’t. In the second half it was him, with a little too much fight on which Chiesa accentuates, the free kick that led to Vlahovic’s 2-1 goal. For the rest of the second half however he makes some important closures and Ranieri takes him away only to avoid worse trouble with cards (from 78′ Zappa SV – Inside to give breath and lungs to the band and to stem the Juventus reaction).

Makoumbou 5.5 – A bit of a dam in the middle of the pitch, a bit of a brain of this team. He too had a solid first half, worth seeing and replaying a save from memory for Hatzidiakos. In the second half he ducks into the barrier with his head instead of hitting the poisonous trajectory of Vlahovic who then passes Scuffet. A gesture in contrast with the enthusiasm shown up to that moment. A bit of a symbol of the last part of the race

Sulemana 6.5 – So much courage. He plays with his head held high as if he has the experience of a veteran. And in reality he is a 2003. Useful in both phases, even if every now and then he is a little too hasty with the ball at his feet. Both shooting and passing. During the interval Ranieri leaves him on the bench to rely on a more maneuverable player like Prati. However, his performance is an excellent performance (From the 46th minute Meadows 6 – Comes in to allow the rossoblù to manage even more with the ball at their feet. Ready to go and he immediately had a great opportunity with a nice shot, then he has to concentrate more on the fight)

Augello 6.5 – Careful first half where you concentrate more on the point. However, he limits the opponent’s lane very well and that is what Ranieri asks of him. In the second half he doesn’t dance or tremble and continues on the same score as the first half.

Gaetano 7 – Ranieri not only puts him at risk as a starter but builds most of the offensive tasks around him. The Roman coach does a sartorial job, he uses him a little as a fake center forward who presses when not in possession, a little as an attacking midfielder and a little as an offensive playmaker. With the former Napoli player allowing him to vary a lot when maneuvering the ball at his feet. He doesn’t tremble on the penalty in the first half and converts with clarity. In the second half Juventus pushed harder and as the gap became just one goal Ranieri called him back, also because the petrol was starting to run out in the rossoblù’s 70th minute (from 69′ Deiola 6 – As the mistral brings hints of walls to be raised to defend the result Ranieri calls him into question).

Luvumbo 7.5 – Zito-Sexual. He had a first half where it was impossible not to love him, beyond the many usual errors in front of goal. He constantly skips the man, dribbles, swerves and runs headlong towards the opponent’s goal. These are the players who excite the fans. He also amazes the Bianconeri who didn’t expect him to have such an impact on a gala evening. In the second half he has less space, but he remains Cagliari’s most dangerous man in rapid transition.

Shomurodov 7 – He takes Stakhanov’s place in the common imagination of a person who bangs himself relentlessly and effortlessly. In the first half he makes and breaks in favor of Cagliari. He plays the hard man when there is a fight to be made, he plays the second striker when there is weight to be given at the start of the game in the lane, but above all he also acts as the finisher like the beautiful throw that activates Luvumbo on the occasion of the penalty awarded by Angolan and transformed by Mina. In the second half he fought for every single ball and also put in some interesting balls that Luvumbo didn’t reach. Truly applause-worthy performance (from 78′ Viola SV – He enters with desire, but this time apart from some good free kicks he is unable to leave his signature).

Trainer: Claudio Ranieri 7.5 – It’s a shame for the missed victory which would have been more than deserved. However, he is now in that phase where he moves at one speed and the world at another and in fact he seems to read everything first. Five points against Atalanta, Inter and Juventus, but above all three performances from a team with the attributes that want to conquer the race for salvation as soon as possible. And this is worth a lot, a lot, if we look at just a few months ago.
