A moment intensely experienced by the students of the 4th “primary” class and 2nd “secondary” middle school on the occasion of the “White Night“, held as per tradition on the evening of 19 April 2024 in the main hall of the comprehensive institute “Vigo Fuccio – La Spina”of Acireale. The event, organized as part of the “Book Festival”, was strongly supported by the school director Prof. Maria Castiglione who conceived it many years ago… also involving other direct schools pro tempore.
This year the initiative was dedicated to a very delicate topic for the entire community: the fight against feminicide. Event title: “The 1000 and a woman – night stories and stories of women” with the students who engaged in group work, debates and activities aimed at encouraging gender equality through the selection and relative reading of illustrated books and in-depth analysis of them. There was no shortage of storytelling competitions in which the children, divided into teams, told stories with female protagonists with a view to strongly raising awareness of the values relating to gender equality and equality.
“The White Night” is the final moment of the Book Festival – commented the School Director, Maria Castiglione, with satisfaction – and the boys tackled the delicate topic of feminicide, chosen this year, with joy and serenity at the same time. We need to make people understand, from adolescence, the concept of “respect”, not only for one’s own gender but also for others”.
