The first stone of the future nursery school in Quartesana was laid yesterday. This is a new space in the hamlet of Ferrara, in via Tono Zancanaro, which will be dedicated to early childhood education and care.

The work started yesterday morning. Present at the foundation stone ceremony were the mayor of Ferrara, the councilors for public education and public works, together with the technicians and the executing company Costruzioni Lago Srl of the Itaco di Loria Consortium (Treviso). The parish priest Don Vittorio was also present for the blessing.

Designed to accommodate around fifty children aged 0-3 years (in three sections from very small to medium-large), the new building will be characterized by an architectural design attentive to the surrounding environment, which aims to guarantee integration between indoor and outdoor spaces for a smooth transition between outdoor play and educational activities. A sort of common agora is planned which can be walked along the entire length of the three sections of children, dividing the service spaces for the operators (kitchen, logistics rooms, changing rooms, toilets) to the south, from the children’s classrooms to the north.

The four modular sections, with double-pitched roofs, arranged on a single floor, are designed to promote socialization and creativity: the large windows of the children’s classrooms allow a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. There is also no shortage of work and interaction spaces with parents, with a multipurpose room. With a view to protecting the environment and energy sustainability, the new building will be equipped with photovoltaic panels on the roof of the structure, in addition to all the necessary plant elements with zero environmental impact (electrical, water, waste, heating and cooling ). The completion of the new school in Quartesana is expected by summer 2025. The project involves an investment of two million euros (of which 1,584,000 euros obtained from Pnrr funds and 426,000 euros from municipal financing).

“Building a new school is always positive and Quartesana was chosen by virtue of an evaluation of demographic data. The construction of this new school – explained the mayor Alan Fabbri – is part of a broader project for the redevelopment of many scattered school structures across the vast municipal territory. Quartesana will be a virtuous example: the project involves 2 million euros of investment, of which almost half a million comes from the municipal coffers and the remainder financed with Pnrr funds intercepted by the Municipality , however, the projects need to be finalized: for this I thank the collaboration between the Municipality’s technicians and private companies. We also met with the residents to better respond to everyone’s needs.”
