“A supportive, safe and inclusive city. Here are our proposals”

of Anna

Anna Zonari’s candidacy for mayor, supported by the coalition formed by the civic list La Comune di Ferrara and the Italian Socialist Party and +Ferrara in Europe list, is committed to an inclusive city, respectful of citizenship rights, supportive and safe. A democratic city, which does not fear pluralism and favors citizens’ participatory processes in important decisions that concern them. It is actively committed to making Ferrara a sustainable city at all levels: environmental, social and economic, to give a future to the new generations and be close to the most vulnerable people.

The method. In June 2023, a group of citizens decided to engage in autonomous political action, from below, in view of the administrative elections of June 2024. The project was presented publicly in September, as an open methodological proposal, based on an very simple assumption: the electoral program can be built with a participatory process, in dialogue with civil society, the third sector, citizens, or with those who live, live, know and are active in the territory.

What we have done. Between September and December 2023 we organized 3 public meetings which saw the participation of hundreds of citizens. Between February and April 2024 we held around 40 meetings with experts and organizations involved in the city in various sectors and 6 public meetings to present the “quasi programme”, with continuous listening

of citizenship between neighborhoods and hamlets. This method allowed dozens of people to approach the project, many of whom had been disaffected with politics and voting for years. The method is substance.

Transparency. The La Comune di Ferrara website has been active since September 2023, allowing the “Quasi programma” and its evolution to be viewed as early as December. The 9 programmatic points can currently be viewed, with concrete proposals for the city. Since March we have also started publishing articles and social content, to illustrate the points of the program and the reasons behind the choices. There is also a “calendar” section, in which we report all the meetings in which we will be present.

With what money? Self-financing has allowed us to print flyers and posters, but it is with an extraordinary amount of volunteer hours that we have

set up working groups, in close and continuous coordination with each other: On the road group which deals with the organization of events, communication group with young people who manage social media, a group mainly composed of women for walks in the neighborhoods and hamlets, a group for the collection of documentation and relations with the electoral office, the group of candidates for support in writing the programme.

The language. We are committed to conducting an electoral campaign focused on the program for the city and on listening to citizens. We have chosen to avoid contrasts, polarizations, criticisms, belligerent language, slogans, because frankly this way of doing politics has tired us and we believe it is one of the reasons for disaffection. We use simple and positive language: clear, “accessible” and empathetic communication, capable of transmitting passion and energy and, at times, raising a smile, with a little satire.
