It’s a celebration in Faenza for the Pilgrim Festival. Today, flag-wavers and musicians who have always been the protagonists of the event over the years will return to the Red district. The event ‘The flag in the world’ will be held, a non-competitive international meeting between flag-wavers and musicians from the major historical re-enactment cities and historic villages in Italy and beyond. Delegations will be expected from the cities of Narni, San Marino, Arezzo, Cori and also from the other districts of Faenza, all non-FISB entities. Furthermore, a delegation will be present coming from Schwäbisch Gmünd, the twinned city of Faenza. The event will see a parade in costume that from 3pm will travel through the streets of the Red district arriving in Piazza del Popolo where, at around 3.30pm, the groups will make their entrance and then perform individually. There will also be an exercise all together. The procession will continue its route until arriving at the International Ceramics Museum where, at around 5pm, the ‘History and tradition of the flag’ conference is scheduled, during which the representatives of the flag-waving groups present will testify to their history and tradition linked to the handling flag. The arrival of Riccardo Manganelli from Contrada del Nicchio is expected from Siena. A dinner will follow in the Baiocco Cellars, by reservation. Furthermore, on the same day, the Rosso district will be home to the regional assembly of the Emilia Romagna Historical Reenactments Association.
The program of the 2024 Festival will end tomorrow with the usual Festa del Rione Rosso, with the local procession that will parade through the streets of the neighborhood arriving in Piazza della Libertà for the flag-waving in front of the Cathedral and finally, returning to the local headquarters, where the social lunch will be held in the Baiocco cellars followed by the local baptism.
