Imperia. Celebrated on April 22nd every year at the behest of the United Nations, the 54th edition of World Earth Day is dedicated to the theme “Planet vs Plastic”, with the firm desire to draw attention to the abuse of plastic materials in our daily lives , asking for a 60 percent reduction by 2040. An objective that sees Plastic Free Onlus at the forefront, with its over 1,000 representatives and 250 thousand volunteers, since 2019.

The blue wave of Plastic Free volunteers will be in action over the next weekend of Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April on the beaches, along the river banks, in parks and public areas to raise awareness of plastic pollution which represents a danger not only for Nature but also for our own survival on the Planet. An awareness raising that will have a concrete objective: freeing the environment from tons of plastic and abandoned waste.

Liguria will also be the protagonist with 6 events thanks to the determination and commitment of the local representatives. Bad weather permitting, on Saturday 20th Plastic Free will be in Ceriale (SV), Genoa (GE), Millesimo (SV), Sarzana (SP) and on Sunday 21st in Imperia and Sanremo.

«We invite all citizens and families to take an active part in this fundamental initiative to raise awareness and attention towards our territories – declares the regional representative Plastic Free Liguria, Claudio Canepa – The abandonment of plastic and waste causes serious consequences in our lives on a daily basis and only constant commitment and attention today will allow us to have a planet tomorrow.
