The images support the perception of history and its memory but also the present that flows. Image samplesphotographic project by Massimo Baldini, which will be presented in the exhibition from 20 April to 30 June 2024, at the spaces of the Sabe Foundation for art, in Ravenna, an institution founded in 2021 as a point of reference for contemporary art, with particular attention to sculpture but which , since 2024, has also opened up to photography and its various declinations. The exhibition is curated by Claudio Marrawith the patronage of the Municipality of Ravenna and the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Bologna – Ravenna Campus and created in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Ravenna.

Born in Ancona and Bolognese by adoption, Massimo Baldini has sampled our country through images in the artist’s book Italia Revisited #1characterized by flashes of irony and astonishing inconsistencies: the lampshade of a lamp winks at the dome of the Brunelleschithe David of Michelangelo guards an ATM, a Riace bronze guarantees TripAdvisor reporting, the decorator of a pizzeria mentions it Edvard Munch. After having worked in publishing for a long time, Baldini he dedicated himself exclusively to photography. Among his personal exhibitions: Italianity, Paris, Maison de l’Italie, 2017; A Tour not so Grand, Bologna, Carlo Gajani Foundation, 2018; White Noise, Milan, Made4Art Gallery, 2022. Published the photographic book Italians, with texts chosen by Claudio Giunta, Bologna, Il Mulino, 2019. With Human/Nature participated in MIA Photo Fair, Milan, 2024.

Italy Revisited it is a long-term project divided into several segments, presented in 2023 at the Baraccano in Bologna and now proposed again in a new installation conceived for the spaces of the Sabe Foundation for art, with an unprecedented homage to Ravenna.
