Amine Ezzaroui, aka Neima Ezza, is the rapper of Moroccan origins who grew up in Milan between the San Siro and Baggio districts. He learned about rap in the context of the public housing projects where he lived with his family, immediately finding a strong desire for revenge in this musical genre. He made his debut in April 2018 with the first part of “Being Rich“, which is followed by the other two episodes, songs that already from the title make it clear how strong Amine’s desire for revenge is.
On October 4, 2019 “Routine” for Yalla Movement, Big Fish and Jake La Furia’s label. He also collaborates with Jake on the song “Wounds”, produced by 2nd Roof and shortly afterwards released with “Notre Dame”, with the production of Big Fish and “Zlatan”, one of his top tracks. Meanwhile, many of his other childhood friends from the same neighborhood – Rondodasosa, Sacky, Vale Pain, Keta and Kilimoney – begin to attract public attention: they are known as the crew Seven 7oo. Almost all of its members obtain prestigious recording contracts and are preparing to establish themselves artistically and settle down financially, after many difficulties. For Neima the first ep “Perif!” comes out in 2020, while 2021 sees him participate in the chart-busting song “SEVEN 7oo”, in collaboration with all the rappers who are part of the same crew. Neima’s career is on the move.
In January 2022, suddenly, the scandal: Neima and Baby Gang, another rapper with whom he often collaborates, are accused of robbery (four to be precise), against some of their peers. The stolen goods are few, especially necklaces and earphones, but the attacks are violent and Baby Gang ends up in San Vittore, while Neima is under house arrest for weeks. What is not clear from the beginning is that the victims initially recognize them from some mug shots and, furthermore, both rappers demonstrate with evidence, witnesses and social media traces that they were elsewhere at the time of the robberies: in the recording studio, in other locals, on the go. Even the motive wouldn’t make much sense: why risk their recording career for a few pennies? After several weeks, the precautionary custody orders were revoked due to “gaps and weaknesses” in the reconstruction of the accusation. To officially declare them innocent we must instead wait for the trial, in September 2022. It is precisely during the harsh period of house arrest that Neima re-elaborates what happened to him and produces over 50 pieces, all on type beats recovered from the Internet, not being able to work in the studio with the producers, of course. As soon as he was able to leave the house, Neima went to Marco Zangirolami (one of the best sound engineers for Italian hip hop) to record everything, with beats made by producers of the caliber of 2nd Roof, Dystopic, Room 9 and many others .
From this long and difficult period, his new EP was born like a phoenix “Below“, 11 very direct, concrete and personal tracks in which Neima talks about his daily life, his neighborhood, his real life and how he felt after what happened to him.
