The schools are not in polluted areas, report rewards Gallura

The data that rewards the schools of Gallura.

In Italian cities, over 5% of schools are located near polluting sources, but not in Gallura. In the area the schools are located in safe environments for children and the data, together with those of Sardinia, are among the best in Italy.

The percentage throughout the territory is 0% e data from the Ministry of Education and Merit (Mim) collected by the Openpolis portal reward the Gallura area which does better than the Sassari area with regards to school safety. In fact, there is no municipality where the institutions attended by children are located in polluted sites, as unfortunately happens in many large municipalities in the country. There are cities, such as Foggia (Puglia), where 42.03% of schools are located near sources of air pollution, 29 in total. Alarming data also a Milan (Lombardy), where the percentage is 21.39%.

Gallura was rewarded, but not Sassarese.

The air is good in Gallura, but the same cannot be said for the rest of the island, especially in the large urban centres. If Olbia is free from danger, in the Sassari area there are cities where schools are located in dangerous sites for the children and young people who attend them. To Alghero 10 out of 34 are located near sources of air pollution, equal to 29.41% of the total. In the neighbourhood Sassari the percentage drops to 3.19% and this concerns 3 schools out of 94.

In the rest of Sardinia the situation is worrying Sarroch and Portoscusowhere the percentage is 100%, with 8 schools located near polluted sources, as certified by the Mim data collected by the Openpolis portal.

Alarming data in Italy.

A few days before Earth Day, which is celebrated on April 22nd, it emerges that Italy is doing little about pollution. Young people are the driving force of change, very sensitive to these issues, who often denounce environmental problems and actively participate in events such as “Fridays For Future”.

Unfortunately, the little ones are often exposed to serious environmental situations in the cities where they live. The Openpolis study highlights how many schools in Italy are located in potentially dangerous sites from an environmental point of view and the damage is growing especially in the more urbanized centres.

“L 13.7% of the European population reported the presence of in the area where they live environmental problems, caused by factors such as pollution – we read in the Openpolis report -. The issue is also and above all felt by young people: the percentage stands at 14.3% in the age group between 16 and 24 years”.

“In Italy, the share is even higher – we read further -. Critical issues such as dirt, pollution or other environmental problems in your area are reported by 17.4% of residents between 16 and 24 years old. A value significantly higher than both that of the EU peers (14.3%) and the average of the Italian population (15.2%)”.
