As happened last season, Gianluca Marzuoli’s lionesses progressed to the final stage of the women’s Serie A Italian Cup after overcoming Dudù Morgado’s Abruzzo team. In a heart-pounding match, Bitonto relies on its stars to win 6-5 over a never-tame GTM Montesilvano. The final, therefore, will see the Apulian team face the Giallorossi of TikiTaka in the final on Sunday 21 April.

FIRST HALF – The first shot in the mirror comes from Bitonto: Diana Santos kicks, Dibiase responds presently and blocks with his foot. On the other side Dal’Maz tries, Jozi is good at closing the door. The match broke the deadlock after just over five minutes, thanks to a flash from Renatinha, who hit the goalkeeper at the near post to make it 1-0 for Bitonto. Just 67” pass and the Apulians find the second goal, with Mansuetto mocking, under the legs, a far from flawless Dibiase. A terrifying one-two, Morgado then immediately calls time out to reorganize his ideas. Montesilvano grows as the minutes pass and scares Marzuoli’s battleship, in particular with Jéssika, stopped only by the post. The Abruzzo team also played the goalkeeper card: a move that certainly paid off, because Belli, deployed as a power play, halved the distances and reopened everything. Renatinha tries to re-establish a reasonable margin of safety, but Dibiase this time cannot be overcome. Jozi also comes very close to making it 3-1, but Belli still takes the heat, scoring a brace (always as an outfield goalkeeper) and re-establishing parity 51” from the break. Rozo even comes close to overtaking at the siren, but has to deal with the crossbar, the second woodwork for a GTM that was decidedly transformed in the second part of the first half.

SECOND HALF – Angry start to recovery from Bitonto. In fact, Renatinha only needed 27” to give himself the second joy of the evening and bring his team forward (also in this case Dibiase’s complicity is evident). Montesilvano is alive and reacts like a great team, but hits an extraordinary Jozi. And then here comes the cynicism of the Apulian players, with Mansueto who, following the development of a corner, drops the poker (a personal brace for her too). Double disadvantage and, as in the first half, goalkeeper for Morgado, this time with Borges. Marzuoli “copy and paste” from his colleague and finds the maximum advantage: Mansueto, from the power play, sets it up for Luciléia, who only has to deposit the ball into the net to make it 5-2. Game over? No way. In fact, within 19”, Jessika and Taty bring the GTM back into contact, at -1. Movement goalkeeper on one side, movement goalkeeper on the other, with mixed success. 59” from the end it’s tied again: Jessika scores the fourth double of a crazy semi-final. Which, in fact, provides a final twist 34” from the end: Taty, in an attempt to anticipate Luciléia, “invents” an incredible lob that goes over Dibiase and sends Bitonto to the final.
