“County Excellence”, awarded to Angelo Ruta by the Modica Lions Club

Today at 7.30 pm the illustrator Angelo Ruta will receive the “Excellence of the County of Modica” award, established by the Modica Lions Club, chaired by Laura Pisana, and awarded to personalities who with their activity have elevated the image and values ​​of the Modica territory.

For the occasion, an event entitled “I am what I remember” was organized at the “Pietro Floridia” auditorium, which will be hosted by the journalist Chiara Scucces.

The career of Angelo Ruta will be retraced from cartoonist of the Modican periodical “Il Domani Ibleo” to illustrations in books and newspapers such as “Il Sole 24 Ore” and “Corriere della Sera”.

Theatrical works directed by Angelo Ruta will also be presented, including “Vincent” dedicated to Van Gogh and produced in Modica by Mariolina Marino.

For the occasion, images of the show “In pietra mutata tutti voci” will be projected, directed by Angelo Ruta, a unique work created on 20 August 2001 on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Salvatore Quasimodo in the churchyard of the Cathedral of San Giorgio.
