Reggio Calabria, the Calabrese councilor in comparison with the director of the CPI

“The Reggio Calabria Employment Center has proven to be a concrete resource in the Reggio area for the promotion of active employment policies and deserves an adequate headquarters”.

This was said by the regional councilor for work and professional training, Giovanni Calabrese, during his last visit to the Reggio Calabria Centre, the second stage of his tour which sees him discuss and meet the directors of the Calabrian CPI, in order to learn more about local realities and start a common path for the implementation of active employment policies.

“It is clearly evident – ​​added the councilor – the value recognized in the various actions promoted by the Employment Center itself, directed by Vittorio Colosimo, among which the ‘Together we create the future’ project which sees the following stakeholders were involved: Labor Development Italy, Confindustria, Order of Labor Consultants and Reggio Calabria Chamber of Commerce. This initiative, already tested in 2023 and proposed again for 2024, has the aim of creating a connection between the city’s CPI, 9 Reggio schools and over 25 local companies, to give a significant and concrete response to the expectations of over 700 fifth year students of technical and professional institutes. The idea is also to provide a real matching opportunity for the business needs of Reggio Emilia companies, creating over 70 vacancies, which will be proposed during the pre-selections which will take place on May 15th at Palazzo Alvaro, on the occasion of the Job day for school, as the final event of this project”.

During the meeting, other actions implemented by the Reggio CPI were also discussed, thanks to the availability and active collaboration of the person in charge, including the signing of a memorandum of understanding to encourage the socio-work inclusion of people subject to restrictions on personal freedom in the territory of the province of Reggio Calabria. Furthermore, the ordinary activities of the Employment Center are illustrated, represented by the actions implemented to achieve the objectives set by the GOL programme. Despite the notorious inadequacy of the headquarters currently assigned to the CPI of Reggio Calabria, a condition highlighted several times by the manager himself to the competent bodies, one cannot fail to take note of the positive results achieved.

In this regard, Councilor Calabrese remarked that “it is necessary to find an adequate structure for the performance of the services that are carefully and daily provided to citizens and businesses. We are working well and the Reggio Calabria office, which has a territorial area of ​​more than twenty municipalities, deserves and must find another location as soon as possible, because the premises are clearly unsuitable and non-functional for carrying out ordinary activities . For this reason we will evaluate the situation because working in comfortable environments is essential for achieving the planned objectives. The Region – concluded the Calabrese councilor – is working closely with the directors because today the CPI are taking on an increasingly important function and it is, therefore, crucial to implement all the measures to guarantee the effective service in favor of the users. We are carrying forward the phases of the extraordinary regional plan to strengthen the CPI, aiming for an effective provision of services, the training and skills of staff, the strengthening of regional and national information systems and the adaptation of structures”.
