Calling Hours Today for Fallen Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen, a Rome Native | Local

ROME, NY — Many in the community will gather today in grief and gratitude in Rome to pay respects to the family of Syracuse Police Officer and Rome native Michael Jensen.

He was shot and killed in the line of duty Sunday night, in Salina, a suburb of Syracuse.

During the calling hours at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home in Rome, several road closures will be in place from 1 pm to 10 pm today.

The affected roads are as follows:

  • Turin road, from Cypress Street to West Oak.
  • West Chestnut Street, from Turin Road to Carroll Street.
  • Roser Terrace, from Cypress Street to West Cedar.
  • Anken Street, from West Cedar Street to West Chestnut.
  • Craig Street, from West Cedar Street to West Chestnut.
  • All of Merrick Road—the road the funeral home is on—will be closed.

Calling hours are scheduled for today from 3 to 8 pm at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home.

The funeral will take place at 11 am on Saturday at St. John the Baptist Church on East Dominick Street in Rome.
