The building that houses the Cuneo Court is owned by the Municipality of Cuneo, placed under constraints of the Superintendency. The management of the property is the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice”. This is how the note from the Municipality of Cuneo begins, regarding the situation of the City Court, in front of which some barriers have been stationed for over two years, to delimit the area in which a detachment of rubble occurred in November 2021. Since then, safety works have been awaited.

The note reads: “The process to complete the façade renovation is underway, but it is particularly complex because it is made up of a series of essential authorization steps. The final project is ready, the authorization for the intervention was obtained from the Superintendence in February 2024, after many months of waiting; we are now waiting for the necessary document to arrive from the General Directorate of the Ministry in charge to proceed with the tender that will be used to award the works. A permanent conference attended by representatives of the Ministry, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Judiciary, the Court and the Municipality of Cuneo accompanies the bureaucratic process”.

So does the Mayor Patrizia Manassero: “We are aware that the barriers on Piazza Galimberti penalize its beauty. Unfortunately, the steps to take to arrive at the intervention that will allow them to be removed take time, because there are various bodies involved and we know that in non-urgent situations the timescales can be very long. Of course, not everything is still. Nobody likes barriers, neither those who live in the city nor those who live in the building”.

The President of the Court Paolo Demarchi Albengo adds: “We are aware of the inconvenience for the citizens and above all of the ‘scarring’ of such a beautiful square, but precisely because it is necessary to preserve this square we had to wait for the necessary opinions of the Superintendency and we are also working on the total repainting of the facade. If citizens have the patience to wait a few more months, they will be rewarded in the end”.
