Fondovalle Salinello, work begins: roundabout at the dangerous intersection – Teramo

SAINT HOMER. Between this month and next, work will begin on the construction of the roundabout at the infamous and dangerous intersection along the Salinello provincial road 8 between the territories of Sant’Omero (Poggio Morello) and Tortoreto (Terrabianca). This was announced by the president of the Province of Teramo Camillo D’Angelowho carried out an inspection together with the president of the Val Vibrata civic committee Monti della Laga Domenico Di Matteo. The municipal councilors of Sant’Omero were also present Erica Celestini and Enrico D’Egidio and the entrepreneur Giulio Pedicone.
Construction times are tight and, project in hand, the infrastructure should be ready before the summer. Di Matteo had followed the issue insistently, repeatedly urging the provincial bodies and also appealing to the Abruzzo Region: and the expected result arrived. «We are satisfied, it is a goal that has been achieved after decades of proposals, requests and requests. For us it is a victory because in recent years no one has taken the resolution of this problem to heart except the current president D’Angelo, with whom we met in March one year ago. And now the work is about to start”, said Di Matteo who remembers when, as councilor in the Province, he left a project for the roundabout on the Sp 8 (he had one built at the crossroads for Villa Maggi and had the canalizations installed in other points of the road). As mayor of Tortoreto, then, he continued to urge without result.
D’Angelo, as he had already announced, reiterates that he intends to move forward with the project to secure the Salinello valley floor. The European-wide pilot project with digital signage and lighting, wi-fi and other cutting-edge aspects will make the valley floor one of the most innovative and, everyone hopes, safest roads. The Province of Teramo, in the meantime, has arranged asphalt mats in some places, installed noise strips, new reflectors and guard rails while waiting for the remote speed detection systems to be installed (which will probably be two) in the most delicate points of the provincial one, for both preventive and sanctioning purposes.
