PESCARA. Twenty-one plaques, recognizing Historic Activity, were delivered yesterday morning in the council room of Palazzo di Città, during the ceremony, organized by the Municipality’s Productive Activities Department. Among the winners are the owners of commercial businesses who have many years of activity (from 40 and above) contributing to the economic growth of the city, but also niche companies, artisans, restaurateurs and an analysis laboratory, opened in Pescara 67 years ago. This is a recognition which can be accessed through a request foreseen by a public tender, managed by Suap (One-stop shop for productive activities).
Behind each plaque there are the stories of workers, handovers between fathers and sons, more or less difficult moments, joys, satisfactions and sacrifices. “I feel like a fish out of water, because I’m used to working all the time,” says the barber Paolo D’Onofrio, at the time of delivery of the license plate. A common feeling among those present, accustomed to spending most of their time within the walls of their business.
The mayor will do the honors Carlo Masci, which thanks traders and all those who resisted the crises. «The pandemic period has put everyone to the test, but if today (yesterday ndc) you are here means that you have been able to face many difficulties with passion and a spirit of sacrifice”, he underlines. «We must not forget that thousands of people from Pescara have passed through these businesses and hundreds of people have worked. The city has grown thanks to them over the decades. For this we must be grateful to them.”
