PESARO – «The resignation of Storti and Berselli is the tip of the iceberg of chaos in provincial healthcare. Now Saltamartini resigns, do it as an act of responsibility.” It is a peremptory attack, that of the provincial Democratic Party, including the secretaries of Pesaro and Fano, the provincial one and the two regional councilors representing the territory, against the management of healthcare by the regional council. Above all, the health councilor Filippo Saltamartini is in the crosshairs, whose resignation is being requested. The press conference organized yesterday by the dems comes following the resignation of the general director of Ast1 Nadia Storti, due to early retirement, and of the health director of Ast itself, Edoardo Berselli, who will dedicate himself exclusively to leading the complex Quality operational unit Accreditation and Training.

«The resignation of two top figures of Ast1 (three in the space of 2 years) throws confusion and alarms everyone – notes the PD provincial secretary Rosetta Fulvi – We have never been satisfied, but today there is a worsening step forward . The company deed must be drawn up, of which there is no news yet, the waiting lists are in a dramatic situation, let’s not talk about passive mobility. The situation is in great difficulty. Storti and Berselli have faced the pandemic with great commitment. Berselli highlighted that he is unable to sustain a heavy double workload, this happens because the Region, in outlining choices in the healthcare sector, does not take charge of the problems that exist at all levels. There is a feeling on the part of the citizens of concern and abandonment. The one who generated all this is the Region, in the figures of Acquaroli and Saltamartini. For this reason it is necessary for the councilor to take responsibility for what happened and resign.”

Renato Claudio Minardi, secretary of the Democratic Party of Fano, adds: «The healthcare system in our province is in total chaos, because after the suppression of the hospital, great confusion was created. To date there is no corporate act and there are no conditions for operators to work at their best. The staff and the entire organization of the hospital must be integrated with a shuffling of cards where no one knows what to do anymore. In Fano the project for a second level hospital with 300 beds was scuttled, with the alternative prospect of doing what? We don’t know what the future of Santa Croce will be. Departments, beds and staff, there is no prospect for the Fano hospital on these issues. The company act will come out after the elections, on June 10, because they don’t have the courage to say what there will be about healthcare in our area. The Dm70 is valid for everyone, even for them. We are very worried about these double resignations, because healthcare is in disarray and citizens cannot continue to go to the private sector and go outside the region.”

For Giampiero Bellucci, PD secretary of Pesaro «the policy of this regional council has been very clear on dismantling, see Marche Nord and the second level hospital project in Muraglia. And the answers? Storti’s appointment gave awareness of being a person capable of managing health problems. But this person found himself faced with the impossibility of combining professional ability with political indications that prefigured scenarios in which a professional is unable to manage the situation. We cannot respond to all this with anger and embarrassment. The President of the Region must answer on what the future of our province will be.” The two regional councilors Micaela Vitri and Andrea Biancani also spoke at the press conference yesterday. «The resignation of the two Ast1 managers is only the tip of the iceberg of a real collapse of regional healthcare. The progress of the Pnrr in the Marche is at 25%. According to the Istat report, almost 10% of people in the Marche region give up treatment, third to last among the Italian regions, ahead of a national average of 7.6%. The company deed is already ready: it says that the departments in Pesaro and Fano will close. That corporate act will never come out, but the departments will close. And more and more will be spent on token doctors. The managers who left say so.” Even the President of the Province Giuseppe Paolini who expressed “a lot of concern about provincial healthcare”.
