Accident prevention and road safety education. The initiatives underway in Varese

There are 253 road accidents, none with victims, detected in the first three months of 2024 in the province of Varese. The data was presented last Tuesday at the provincial administration headquarters as part of the provincial observatory on road safety, chaired by the prefect Salvatore Pasquariello.

Various topics are on the agenda. Among these, the functions of the new “unified information tank” application, from which the accident rate data comes: the system allows the acquisition of all the information relating to accidents occurring in the province, making it quickly available to the observatory.

The activity of the “Michele Scarponi Foundation” was another of the topics addressed: the organization promotes prevention by involving administrations and public opinion on the drama of road violence, financing in memory of the cyclist who was hit and killed during training, which gives its name to the foundation, projects to spread road safety education and more generally respect for others.

Still on the topic of prevention initiatives examined during the meeting, the general program of the event that Aci-Varese will organize for next July 25th as part of the “Varese Summer Festival” scheduled from 14th to 27th was illustrated. of the month in the gardens of Palazzo Estense. The contents of the event, which also includes the presence of the police to make known their educational as well as repressive role, will be defined by a limited working group chaired by Aci, composed of representatives of the prefecture, the traffic police, the traffic police of the fire, of the province and by the commands of some local police forces.

Representatives of the Lombardy region and the local school office presented the projects on the topic of road safety already implemented or in the process of being implemented in schools, while the manager of the local section of the Traffic Police recalled two initiatives on the topic involving the State Police with other institutional partners: the “ICARO” project and the “INCROCI” project for education on legality in terms of road and railway safety, and on the dangers associated with an unconscious use of the network.
