VENICE – Again eco-vandalism and attention seeking for climate issues defacing the beauty of the surrounding environment. Venice is still a victim today, Friday 19 April: some climate extremists have poured again liquid dye in the Venetian canals. The Grand Canal it suddenly became tinged with fluorescent red and green.
It’s about two young French men already identified and arrested by the police, probably part of the environmentalist movement “Extinction Rebellion”.
The action could also be due to the media attention that the Art Biennale is currently exerting. The dye – it is not yet known whether harmless or not – was poured into water from a vaporetto on line 1coming from the Giglio stop and heading towards the Accademia, where he was stopped by the police.
