Gianfranco Ganau leaves the race for mayor of Sassari. With a post on social media, the PD exponent, former mayor for two terms of the Turritan capital and former president of the regional council during the Pigliaru mandate, announces that «in order not to risk useless divisions that would benefit other coalitions» he will support Giuseppe Mascia as potential mayor of the Democratic Party.
Confirming that he was willing to return to Palazzo Ducale both for the relationship maintained with the city and for, he writes, «being able to give it back the experience gained in the institutional and administrative field, after 10 years of administrative and political difficulties which lose centrality, role and hope”.
He then states that he finds the contrast between his person and the renewal proposal extraneous «because», he reports, «in all my experiences I have always worked to promote a quality ruling class first and foremost and, where possible, I have favored the involvement of new energies, as demonstrated by the choice not to go beyond the two mandates in the regional elections”.
Finally, the step backwards in favor of the provincial secretary Giuseppe Mascia who therefore anticipates the news expected for tomorrow, at the end of the PD assembly, with the official proclamation of the PD candidate. Which will then also have to receive the support of all the parties in Campo Largo. «My commitment and my support for this difficult undertaking», concludes Ganau, «with a center-right government that shows its true face more every day, will be up to what the good of Sassari and our country requires from each of us”.
