Textile waste, over 35 thousand kilos collected

In just three months, the beginning of 2024, they were collected in the municipal area of ​​Pisa almost 35 thousand kilos of textile wastewith a three-digit increase compared to the same period in 2023. It is, in fact, a increase of more than 132%according to data reported by the Municipality’s Environment Office.

The increase is certainly caused by the activation of the new home collection service for textile waste, which was booked 342 times in the first three months of 2024. Specifically, the staff of Geofor takes care of disposing of unused clothes, old towels, tablecloths or sheets, but also shoes, belts and bags, directly from users’ homes.

The service can be requested using the Rciclo app, the Geofor website or by contacting the number 800.909590. During the booking phase, the day on which the user will have to expose the textile waste in the time slot between 7 and 8 am on the same day is communicated. The minimum quantity is a lot of non-transparent black color, for one volume of approximately 80 litreswhile the maximum is 4 non-transparent black bags.

Alternatively, old clothing can be given to collection centers in via Pindemonte, via San Jacopo, Putignano and via delle Giunchiglie in Tirrenia: in this way, it is also possible to receive a Tari bill discount.
