According to initial reports, there are more thirty wounded, twenty-nine of whom were transported to different hospitals while others were treated on board the ship. Almost everyone – according to the bulletin released by ASL Napoli 1 – has reported maxillofacial trauma or injuries. Second Lapresse a woman she would be taken to hospital in code code red: for all others code green or yellow. The fast ship came from Capri where the meeting has been underway since Wednesday G7 Foreign Ministers. Among the injured, in addition to passengers and crew, there would be – according to what is reported by the Midday courier – also of the agents of the police who were on the island specifically for the G7.

There were on board the ship 163 passengers, including many foreigners. Several injured people were assisted by 118. At the time of the accident, upon arrival at the port, almost all the passengers were standing and would have fallen due to the violent impact. The ship is a “ro-ro” ferry, used for the transport of cars and passengers. At 10.14am the request for intervention regarding the collision that occurred between the ship and the dock arrived from the 118 operations center of the ASL Napoli 1 Centro. In addition to the ambulances being alerted to the scene of the accident, an advanced medical post was set up. The medical staff who intervened on site “promptly assessed the injured and subsequently transported them to the city emergency rooms based on the severity code”.

Investigations are underway to reconstruct the dynamics. Among the hypotheses, in addition to that of a technical failure, there is also the possibility that the accident could have been caused by one gust of wind. The ship Isola di Procida left Capri at 9:05. They were there at sea waves about two meters high and gusts of wind which however allowed navigation. While the ship was docking at Molo Beverello in Naples, a gust of wind would have “tossed” it, causing it to list. The people who were in the hall ended up on the floor. Many of them reported maxillofacial contusions.

“We are carefully following the developments of the accident. As MIT we monitor the evolution of the situation and we are constantly in contact with the competent authorities, in particular with the Port Authority of Naples which is carrying out all the appropriate checks”, declared the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Tullio Ferrante.
