19/04/2024 – For sailing enthusiasts, the classic Pesaro Pola or “On the route of the luggers” returns. The 38th edition, as always, organized by the Naval League and with the patronage of the Municipality of Pesaro and the Marche Region where monohull cabin-sailing boats over 8 meters “overall” are permitted.

“This year we hope to reach around 45 members – hopes Antonio Rossini, president of the Naval League of Pesaro – and registrations are open until the last days. This year among the new features we are also hosting a vintage wooden boat dating back to 1902 which will remain in Pesaro for a few days and we hope to find a suitable place where we can show it”.

These are the stages of the event: the boats are scheduled to arrive in Pesaro on May 1st where the traditional dinner reserved for the crews will be held in the evening. On May 2nd from 9am distribution of registration numbers and at 4pm the departure of the Regatta class boats and at 4.10pm the Pleasure class boats.

On May 3rd the arrival in Pula is expected in the morning with variable times also based on the weather and the evening briefing at 8pm. Pulska Regatta, the 63rd edition of the race which takes place entirely in the Gulf of Pula, will start on May 4th at 11am.

On the same day the return to Pesaro. The final awards ceremony will be held on May 11th at 5pm at the Lega Navale headquarters in Pesaro.

For some years the Naval League has also collaborated with local schools to introduce children to sailing. Exhibited in the Lega headquarters in Strada tra i due Porti are the works carried out by the children of the Liceo Artistico Mengaroni of Pesaro and the Book School of Urbino illustrated by the teachers Luciana Forlani and Giovanna Forlani, sisters of each other and among these Luciana has been a member of the Lega Navale since four years and from this 2024 she was appointed school delegate of the Italian Naval League for schools with the aim of taking care of the relationships between these two realities.

“The work of involving the schools is good – underlines Andrea Biancani, vice president of the Regional Council – to give them a passion for sailing. Remarkable in this is the effort of the Naval League to organize the event for 38 years”. The Port Authority also present with Clarissa Torturo on behalf of the commander Claudia Di Lucca wishes the regatta a good success because it represents the expression of unity between man and sea and between peoples.
