All the stories of yesterday’s Legnano

From Monday the second phase of the “Give us your story” project, with interviews in May

Legnano – The initiatives continue in Legnano for the hundred years of Legnano Città. In fact, the second phase of the tests will start on April 22nd “Give us your story”the research project on stories from the past by the Augusto Marinoni civic library and the group of bibliovolunteers introduced at the end of March.

The initiative is one of the many activities organized within the framework of the Centenary of Legnano Città.

“We departed – explains Professor Oldrini, one of the founders of the initiative – from the primary desire to recover stories linked to our city that we fear may, over the years, be forgotten. Not only that, we want to enhance these stories because we are convinced that the history of our city, the collective history, is made up of an amalgam of individual microstories”.

The intrinsic value of the initiative is expressed in two directions: first it allows you to recover stories that would otherwise be forgotten by the community or only remembered in a vague, abstract way. It then offers the possibility, through the recovery of their direct experience, to bring back into vogue the sensitivity of those who today are guests of the city RSAs but who decades ago were strictly interested in the life of the territory, created it and made it progress. The project was born precisely from here – he explains – from the great wealth of knowledge and memories that would otherwise risk being lost.

Here, focus so you don’t forget and reinvigorate so you get excited.

All this while returning to citizens a product that is as usable as possible. “We thought of making a short film precisely for this reason,” he adds.

The short will collect voices, faces and testimonies of a fundamental section of the city’s history of the twentieth century, going up to the threshold of the 70s. We will delve into stories that have been lived or passed down that talk about work, love, habits and family.

A selection of the collected stories will begin on April 22nd. The bibliovolunteers will be working to examine the applications and then we will proceed, in May, with the interviews for the creation of the actual short film. The research will be conducted by the “Augusto Marinoni” civic library and its group of BiblioVolontari.

A few days before the deadline closes participation scheduled for April 20th, around 50 applications have been collected. After the selection, people will be welcomed into the library in May. There will also be the possibility of directly reaching those who will be selected at their home.

The collaboration with the Rezzonico Auto Group was also presented, the technical sponsor of the entire initiative which offered an electric vehicle – a new Fiat 600 – which the bibliovolunteers will use for travel.
