ALEXANDRIA – This Saturday 20 April to Alexandria a double appointment promoted by the Coscioni Cell Alessandria, the local branch of the Luca Coscioni association for freedom of scientific research. Starting from 4pm it will be inaugurated in the station gardens, ongoing Crimea before the Courtthe bench “adopted” by the association and dedicated to the issues of freedom of choice and rights. In the same place, volunteers and experts will offer up to 7pm consultations on advance treatment orders, also called living wills. Citizens will be able to request information, collect information material and forms to fill out to choose in advance which health treatments to accept and which not, in the event that one day they are no longer able to express their wishes.
This is a right won after years of battles that began with Piergiorgio Welby and continue with Beppino Englaro alongside his daughter Eluana and many other people, up to the decisive civil disobedience of Marco Cappato with DJ Fabo. However, it is a right that few people still know today: in fact the information campaign foreseen by law 219/17 has never been carried out and many are unaware of the importance of this tool, which allows us to avoid others having to decide for us, with the burden that may result.
