Michele Celeghin makes his candidacy for mayor official.
Appointment next Saturday, at 11, in Piazza Castello 2, in front of the statue of Pier Fortunato Calvi, in what will become his electoral headquarters.
The former mayor and ex provincial coordinator of Forza Italia he therefore decided to continue his run, with the aim of re-conquering the seat of mayor, even after the rift with Carlo Fascina, who decided to run with the support of “his” Officina Noale and who will present himself this evening at 6.30 pm in Piazzetta del Grano.
The support of another civic body which should include the Democratic Party is also being made official.
«I will present myself as a candidate for mayor» Celeghin simply anticipates «I will talk about my program and the excellent candidates on the lists who will support me».
Yes, the lists. «Those will be presented the following week, there is no rush» specifies Celeghin. Not a small detail. It is known that Celeghin will have a “personal” list, with loyalists among the candidates. You will also have the support of Coraggio Italia, into which they merged Michele Cervesato and Renato Damiani, two historic Noalese administrators, councilors in office for the Noalese list at the centre, which is currently, in some way, frozen.
In fact, a leading exponent of the civic list is also the lawyer Michela Barin, candidate for mayor of the centre-right five years ago (defeated by Patrizia Andreotti) and wife of Carlo Fascina.
Celeghin’s self-candidacy poses a significant problem also in Forza Italia. The provincial coordinator Gianluca Forcolin has made official his support for Stefano Sorino, a candidate for mayor who also has the support of two other centre-right parties: Fratelli d’Italia and Lega.
Celeghin, however, defeated by Forcolin himself a few months ago, is currently a member of the Forza Italia board. His candidacy for mayor in contrast to a candidate other than the one indicated by the party, it effectively puts him outside the party itself.
«We’ll see if this will actually be the case» he puts his hands forward Forcolin “If this were the situation, it is obvious that Celeghin will be the one to leave the party.” It is no mystery that neither the League nor the Brothers of Italy would have wanted to conduct an electoral campaign alongside Celeghin.
And Forza Italia evidently preferred to strengthen the centre-right patrol (orphan of Coraggio Italia) rather than support a member (for how long?) of its provincial board.
No reference to Forza Italia by Celeghin. We will have to wait until Saturday for any communications.
