Video surveillance L’Aquila, the first cameras will be active by the summer

L’AQUILA – The operations rooms for the 900 cameras of the video surveillance system are being set up. The first will be active by the summer.

By 2025 the video surveillance system for L’Aquila and fractions will have to be completed, but for activation we will not wait for the last camera mounted, in fact they will be activated as they are installed. For this reason, all the preparatory work will be done first operations rooms and infrastructure. “At this moment – ​​explains the councilor Fabrizio Taranta to the Capital of Abruzzo – the two largest operations rooms are being set up, those at the Police Headquarters and the municipal Police Headquarters; two more, smaller ones, are planned for the provincial command of the Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza”.
The phase of setting up the operations rooms is nearing completion, with the IT part for management: “Once this phase is finished – explains councilor Taranta – we will move on toinfrastructure of the territory, with fiber optic connections and the installation of supports where it is not possible to use electricity poles. At that point the installation can begin cameras, for the activation of which we will not wait for the completion of the entire network, but – having already completed the operational management part – they will be activated in blocks. The first ones should already be active by the summer. The project is expected to be completed by 2025.”
In all about 900 new cameras which will be added to those already functioning in Piazza Duomo, Parco del Sole, Piazza Regina Margherita and Santa Maria Paganica. Different types of cameras are planned for the new 900, from those with license plate reading (some of which are positioned at the access points to the city) to those with 360° movement, which will be positioned not only in the center but also in the suburbs and hamlets, according to the map established with the police within the Provincial Order and Safety Committee”.
In the meantime, the Municipality of L’Aquila has joined the agreement Consip, which streamlines the process with the economic operators already available for the infrastructure works needed for the installation of the cameras. Short times, therefore, with the first cameras that could be active as early as the summer. The financing from 4 million euros However, the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025: “Our commitment – assures Taranta – is to work in such a way as to possibly close even earlier”.
