Modigliana football, victory dedicated to Bum Bum

A terrible road accident prematurely took Lorenzo Dotti, a 16-year-old from Tredozio, from his family and friends two years ago.

It was April 15, 2022 when, along the Tramazzo provincial road, the young man, who was attending high school in Faenza, collided with a tractor while he was driving his scooter. Even today the memory of the boy is alive in those who knew him and loved him. Among these, also his football friends, a sport that Lorenzo practiced, as well as being involved in volunteering.

Today Modigliana Calcio wanted to pay homage to Lorenzo’s memory by dedicating an important victory to him. In fact, the 24 boys making up the squad of the ‘Modigliana Calcio’ team (years 2004-2005-2006) last Sunday won the Junior championship of the province of Ravenna with 59 points, after 14 years and with two days to spare.

Lorenzo, nicknamed by them ‘Bum Bum’, had played with those same boys in the young and very young age as a striker and was a much appreciated teammate for his commitment. In this 14-team championship the juniors of ‘Modigliana Calcio’ were in the lead from the start, coached by Filippo Montanari and Marco Marchesi and had Tommaso Stocco (the creator of the cute nickname Bum Bum) and Andrea Guidi as managers.

The numbers, with one day to go, already tell of a real feat: 25 games played, 19 wins, 2 draws, 4 defeats, including the last one at home with the final result achieved giving space to those who had played less, 56 goals scored, of which 11 by top scorer Filippo Valmori, 23 conceded, 2.2 goals per game average, zero penalty goals, 4 yellow cards and zero expulsions, confirming a very correct team, with an average age of 18.3 years .

In the aftermath of the triumphant penultimate day, on the occasion of the sad anniversary, as a dutiful tribute dedicated to the friend and playmate who will continue to live in their hearts, the boys all wanted to pose and display signs with the words ‘Bum Boom always in my heart’.

The young man’s mother Monia Tassinari, his father Celso and his sister Giulia were struck and moved by this gesture, so much so that the parents specifically asked to “thank the team for the beautiful thought addressed to our beloved Lorenzo”.
