Frost. He shot to kill. The criminal panel of the court, chaired by judge Miriam D’Amore (alongside Eva Nicastro and Martina Scuderoni), recognized the charges leveled against the young Kevin Canotto. Six years and nine months of detention: this is the sentence imposed on him, following a request from the prosecutor’s office for thirteen years and four months. Canotto, holding a gun that was not found by investigators, fired at the home of his ex-girlfriend’s family, in the Zai district. According to the accusation, he risked hitting a girl who was in the building, who in turn had a family relationship with her ex. There would have been resentments and the vain attempt to re-establish relationships that pushed Canotto to that action. For the prosecutor’s office, these were serious facts, committed to kill. One of the ex-girlfriend’s family members, realizing what was happening, rushed in his car towards Canotto who fled. The defendant shot two dogs that belonged to the family. According to his version, it was a response to a previous attack he had suffered. The ex-girlfriend and her family had no intention of resuming relations. Canotto and the defender, the lawyer Davide Limoncello, reiterated several times during the preliminary hearing that the shots were intended to intimidate and not to kill. The lawyer ruled out the possibility of attempted murder. Canotto, currently detained, was attributed with further crimes, from stalking to the availability of the weapon and up to injuries.
