Living in Lucca, walking around and being surprised. For unknown works of art, funny anecdotes, important historical reflections. It happens often and it happened once again: Sunday 14 April.
During that unusual tour of the walls that Federico and Arianna – from the Il Panda and Premium shoe and accessory shops in Via fillungo – wanted to organize as a tribute to their customers/friends to entertain them and share moments of culture and leisure with them. “The love for “beauty” and the privilege of living in Lucca push us to create MyPremiumCLUB” says Federico “the aim is to create a group of people in love with our city, who participate together in guided tours aimed at in search of curiosities and hidden treasures” A calendar of meetings guided with a somewhat special theme, on Sunday morning and lasting a couple of hours each.
We chose as our guide: Gabriele Calabrese of TurisLucca, a valid cooperative of tourist guides. Passionate historian, art connoisseur and charismatic communicator, capable on all occasions of talking about Lucca with great involvement and enthusiasm.
Sunday morning, despite the numerous participations which did not affect the attention and deadlines set at all, thanks to the almost summer temperatures: the first meeting which attracted so much interest was held. As already mentioned in the title – AN UNUSUAL TOUR OF THE WALLS: many secrets from the tree-lined circle – the group started from the tourist reception center in Piazzale Verdi, traveling along part of the city walls and its underground areas and stopping in front of strategic points that revealed surprising secrets of what happened and why.
“It was nice to witness the expressions of amazement at those anecdotes that are almost unbelievable or at imposing sculptural works that have always been set on the facade of a building and whose existence we were unaware of” Arianna is enthusiastic about this first success. “Walking with our customers (now friends), marveling, laughing and being proud together was a moment of fun and of important enrichment, in cultural and human terms”
“We have received so many thanks” insists Federico “but the joy in the eyes of those who have trusted us, following us and getting excited, gratifies us for this umpteenth demonstration of affection and makes us happy for the usefulness and success of this our last idea.”
