The first edition of the initiative born from an idea of the Imola and Romagna delegation of Ffc Ricerca is called Imola Charity Bike|In loop for Ffc Ricerca.

A format whose first edition should have been held in 2023 but which was then canceled due to the exceptional wave of bad weather that hit Romagna. Now finally re-proposed, in the same circuit, with the aim of increasing knowledge about cystic fibrosis, the most widespread serious genetic disease in Europe without yet a definitive cure, and raising funds for research.

In the wake of the Bike Tour – the sports charity event born in 2012 from an idea of the president of the Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis Research, Matteo Marzotto – champions and two-wheel enthusiasts will be seen competing in an exceptional location, the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, the only Formula 1 circuit where racing runs counterclockwise, famous throughout the world for the adrenaline-pumping corners that made it go down in history.

The event – explains a note – enjoys the patronage of the City of Imola and the New Imola District, in collaboration with the Autodromo Turismo e Servizi al città, the Asd Imola Bike, the Ciclistica Santerno Fabbi Imola and Appennino Bike.

In the heart of sport to find a cure
“I am happy to return to Imola and resume the project which, due to the dramatic climatic events of last year, we suspended”he comments Matteo Marzotto. “And I’m happy that cycling, which I love so much, is becoming the distinctive sport of Ffc Ricerca. Amateur cycling events like this, which sow a passion for sport even among the little ones, for healthy physical activity to share with family, with friends, in safety, can only see me in the saddle. Then being in a location that represents the history of sport”continues the president of Ffc Ricerca, “It motivates us even more to support research, to find the cure for all those people with cystic fibrosis who are still orphans of therapy”.

“After last year’s forced cancellation, it is with great pleasure that we return to host this important event at the Autodromo which will serve to raise funds for research into cystic fibrosis”these are the words of the president of Formula Imola, Gian Carlo Minardi. “Solidarity events like this, which shine the spotlight on such an important topic, cannot fail to find our full availability, providing a structure that I consider ideal for this type of event. I invite everyone to participate, from families, to schools, to sports clubs, to give a tangible signal of solidarity, sociability and inclusiveness”.

The format: teams of 6 and schools involved
With approximately 5 km and 120 m of altitude difference per lap, Imola Charity Bike – In loop for Ffc Ricerca includes a team race (max 6 participants) or for individual participants lasting 6 hours – starting at 10 am and ringing of the bell at passage after 4pm – divided into different categories and open to all bodies recognized by CONI.
An event with a supportive, amateur and educational focus, which is aimed at all those who have a passion for cycling, from sports associations to families and local schools. In fact, the sporting competition is also accompanied by a training activity that will involve primary and secondary schools (up to 15 years old) in Imola and the surrounding area, which will be offered a preparatory activity not only for cycling as a sporting activity, but also as an educational one. , from a safety perspective, to allow us to approach the bicycle as a sustainable mode of transport.

Marco Panierimayor of Imola: “As a City and as an Administration we are proud to host this initiative to support research on cystic fibrosis and raise awareness among citizens. Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation, also given the relationship with its delegate Patrizia Baroncini, is at home in Imola and finds in the Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Autodrome an open and inclusive space that confidently donates its visibility and international fame to projects like Imola Charity Bike | Looped for FFC Search. I thank the Local Committee for the activities it carries out in the Imola area, a precious presence with which we always collaborate with great pleasure.
