MARSALA (TRAPANI) To deal with the water crisis, the mayor of Marsala, Massimo Grillo, asked to be able to reactivate the three municipal wells in the Cozzogrande district. He asked the regional Infrastructure Department. The wells were closed some time ago following laboratory analyzes which revealed a presence of nitrates exceeding the legal limits. At the same time, the mayor asked the Region for denitrification systems to be installed in the three wells.

Furthermore, the municipal administration highlighted “the opportunity to be authorized to explore additional aquifers, in order to build another six wells in the area”. All this, we read in the Municipality’s note, “while maintenance interventions to improve the city’s water network are increasing, with too many damaged pipes requiring repairs”. The situation led the mayor to request regional funds.

The funds would be needed for the replacement of a water network which he considers “outdated”; “in order to avoid, in this moment of severe water crisis, the risk of water leaks along the pipelines”.
