Elections in Basilicata. The myth of Cetto La Quale and the drama of the voters
Descriptive text here

The most followed influencer in these weeks of the election campaign is Cetto La Quale. Indeed, it seems that for some the character created by the talented Antonio Albanese has become a myth. We shouldn’t generalize, of course, exceptions exist but they are not, nor do they, the rule. Most candidates present themselves to voters with comedy language and with proposals that are all the same: old, useless, superficial, good for a masquerade theatrical performance. Not to mention the torture to which grammar and syntax are subjected in public and private discourse.

In the programs we see proposals put together as best we can, with entire paragraphs copied and pasted from other documents, from which extraordinary confusion emerges. A pot of titles and slogans mixed without any criteria, a mess of rhetorical intentions based on nothing. Titles whose interconnection escapes even the most astute reader, disjointed and, paradoxically, redundant. An unpretentious “harlequin”.

We wanted to capture in the intentions of the forces in the field a vision of the future for our region, an idea of development linked to the identity of endogenous resources, a new mission of Basilicata within the framework of the changed national and international contexts with the indication of declinable objectives into concrete actions. We wanted to grasp a new pragmatics of politics at the service of the Lucanians. Instead, we have encountered fog, inconclusiveness, confusion, inadequacy in facing the real challenges. We don’t even want to imagine what Basilicata will be like in the hands of those enchanted by the myth of Cetto La Quale.

Many of them have behind them i true operators of the electoral machine: potentates of all kinds infiltrated, as always, in all coalitions. France or Spain as long as it’s great. Representatives of the political, economic and business potentates are the leaders of this electoral campaign, with their squires and grooms. The principals and even the agents have changed for 30 years, but the potentates are always the sameracing to grab the biggest basket of opportunities and resources.

We will talk about it again once the vote is over, in the hope that the majority of voters will desert the polls, so as not to give any more oxygen to this system of power. A system without political identity, but with a strong propensity to protect private interests and business. A system that cannot be changed, as the last 30 years have shown, but can be defeated. The story of the worst and the least worst has long become a meaningless legend. A useful joke to reduce the cognitive dissonance of voters who go to the polls for whatever reason.

In a normal region the voter would have to choose whether to vote for one or another ideal perspective, one or another vision of the future, one or another development program. He should vote by adhering to one or another field of values that can be differentiated based on the specificities of the territory. And accept in this comparative framework the challenge for Basilicata in the coming decades. But Basilicata, even today, is not a normal region. Therefore one is forced to choose between the face of a guy/girl and that of a guy/girl, between friendships and relatives, between those who want the streets and those who want the sidewalks. Among those who protect this or that other professional and entrepreneurial corporation. Between those who recommended me and those who didn’t. Between those who have milked more public resources and those who have less, etc. etc. In short he is forced to choose between MarreseChiorazzo And Bar ofPittella. Between photocopies without an original. Between the worst and the worst, because the least worst does not exist and if it did exist it would be a soothe of desperation, a frying pan, this time fatal, to the head of democracy. It would certainly be a clean cut of the branch on which sits the hope of Lucanians who still hope.

All I have to do is paraphrase Victor Martin. We must not forget that the ballot box is, after all, an urn: in it, as soon as it is opened, we risk finding the ashes of the future of Basilicata. Better to stay away, at least this time and only for the regional elections. Empty ballot boxes, on the evening of April 22, will be less threatening than those with ashes.
