Gioia dei Marsi (AQ): he argues with his partner and the police intervene, but he is arrested for drugs

GIOIA DEI MARSI (AQ) – If there were no immediate criminal implications for the argument he had at home with his partner, the outcome of the search carried out by the police who intervened when a battered woman asked for help was different. This is how, last Sunday, at the end of the judicial police activities, the arrest was made of a 29-year-old Moroccan man, caught with over 20 grams of cocaine hidden together with a precise balance sheet. The man, accused of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, is now also under investigation for domestic abuse.

The victim, also Moroccan, two years older than the alleged torturer, had the courage to directly contact the police at the station, to whom she reported the continuous mistreatment she suffered due to the violent attitude of her live-in partner.

The latest known argument triggered investigations by the military personnel who, with good reason, inspected the home used by the couple. The man, present in the house, appeared to be more concerned with avoiding scrutiny than with answering some clarification questions. For this reason he was subjected to a personal and home search, which ended with the discovery and seizure of just over 20 grams of cocaine and a precision scale. All hidden behind a convector installed in a room of the apartment. The 29-year-old Moroccan was immediately arrested, held responsible for possession of cocaine for the purposes of trafficking.

The facts were reported to the prosecutor on duty at the public prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Avezzano, who, before the hearing to validate the arrest – set for tomorrow morning – ordered the arrestee to be transferred to prison. For women, however, the protection program envisaged by the so-called “red code” has been launched. Investigations still underway by the Gioia dei Marsi carabinieri station.
