CORIGLIANO ROSSANO (COSENZA) – More drugs and objects not allowed in the Corigliano Rossano prison. This was reported by the Autonomous Penitentiary Police Union (Sappe), which stigmatizes the precarious security conditions within the penitentiary institution.
During a police operation carried out yesterday, 16 April 2024, with the help of the canine units of the Penitentiary Police, various quantities of drugs were found inside the prison, including a stick of smoke and another substance, probably cocaine . In addition to drugs, other prohibited items were also seized from inside the cells. The news was given by Giovanni Battista Durante, deputy general secretary and Francesco Ciccone, regional secretary of Sappe. «As often happens – Durante and Ciccone say – in the city penitentiary and in other institutions in our country. If on the one hand – they argue – we must congratulate the staff who once again operated with professionalism and a spirit of sacrifice, on the other we do not understand why adequate measures are not taken to restore safety and legality”.
