Despite requests from the Union of Romagna Faenza, General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, extraordinary commissioner for post-flood reconstruction, “has not yet secured the funds” necessary for emergency assistance to families still hosted in some accommodation facilities due to of the unusability of their homes and the absence of alternatives for accommodation. A critical situation in which, according to the latest reconnaissance carried out by the Urf, almost a year after the disaster there are still 59 people, who can in fact be classified as displaced persons: in detail, 39 are at the Cavallino hotel and 19 at the B&B Hotels Italia in Faenza, while 3 are in the convent spaces of the nuns of the Blessed Sacrament in Fognano. The renewal of the agreements with the structures (and with Gemos, which provides the meals) will be valid until June 30th and involves an economic commitment by the Union of almost 200 thousand euros divided as follows: 106,560 euros at the Cavallino, 46,272 at the B&B, 10,500 to the nuns of Fognano and 34,884 to Gemos. at the end of 2023, after several extensions of the first assistance measures for the displaced population, the Municipalities of Faenza and Brisighella had drawn up some more stringent rules for the continuation of hospitality, establishing for example criteria relating to the possible existence of alternative accommodation with relatives in territories not far away, in the knowledge that with the beginning of 2024 the responsibility for expenses relating to hotel facilities and the administration of meals would pass to the Community Services Area of the Urf: the latter, after several discussions that took place in the month of February, had to take note, on the one hand, «of the unavailability of the Sub-Commissioner for Reconstruction to cover the costs», i.e. the President of the Region Stefano Bonaccini, and on the other of the «lack of response also from the Commissioner » Son. The Services Area therefore “proceeded to request a specific budget change from the Financial Area” and then approved the draft agreements with the activities involved, also certifying that “the expenses incurred for the interventions covered by this provision are not covered by policies compensation insurance policies or do not appear to be financed with other public funding”.
