In recent days, soldiers of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Benevento, as part of the institute’s services aimed at combating the marketing of counterfeit products, seized over 200 items of clothing from a shop belonging to a well-known specialized group in the marketing of clothing with various sales points present within the Campania Region.

In particular, soldiers from the Benevento Group accessed the sales point operating in the city of Benevento where, during checks, they found that items reproducing brands of well-known clothing brands were on display. Over 100 tracksuits were on sale at the business
reproduced mendacious and counterfeit signs, attributable to the “EMPORIO ARMANI 7” brand and a further 40 attributable to sports clubs of the American NBA league, such as “LAKERS” and “CHICAGO BULLS”. Furthermore, over 60 jackets attributable to the brands “STONE ISLAND”, “THE NORTH FACE” and the same “EMPORIO ARMANI 7” were found. The brands shown on the seized items, in terms of size and graphics, differ from the original ones only in some details, thus deceiving the consumer who can easily
be tricked into believing you are purchasing an original product.

As a result of the financiers’ checks, over 200 items of sports clothing currently available to the judicial authorities were seized and the owner of the clothing shop was reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Benevento for trading in counterfeit products and receiving stolen goods. Further investigations are underway to ascertain the origin of the illegal goods. The intensification of the Corps’ action in order to repress the counterfeit market prevents this phenomenon from constituting a brake on the growth and development of the economic system. Countering the spread of counterfeit products also means ensuring effective consumer protection and a competitive market where honest economic operators can benefit from fair competition conditions.

It is represented that the owner of the clothing store is, at present, a person subjected to preliminary investigations and therefore presumed innocent until a final sentence.
