5 photovoltaic systems in post offices

The first kilowatts are already being produced in the Agrigento area, which from this year will supply green electricity to five post offices in the province. In fact, the total of 190 photovoltaic modules installed on the roofs of the Poste Italiane offices in Burgio, Calamonaci, Lucca Sicula, Casteltermini and Castrofilippo have become fully operational.

Annual energy production

Specifically, the post offices involved will each benefit from an annual production that varies from over 12 thousand kilowatts/hour in Castrofilippo up to 42 thousand kWh in Casteltermini. All together, the photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the five buildings involved occupy an area of approximately 440 square meters and in some periods of the year will be able to guarantee the energy self-sufficiency of the offices.

Polis for the environment

The interventions, which will continue in the coming months also in the Agrigento area, were carried out by Poste Italiane as part of the “Polis – Casa dei Servizi Digitali” project, the initiative created by the company to promote economic, social and territorial in the 7 thousand municipalities with less than 15 thousand inhabitants, contributing to their relaunch. The recent installations confirm Poste Italiane’s attention to environmental sustainability, confirming the path undertaken by the company which will lead it to achieve zero net carbon dioxide emissions by 2030. The new photovoltaic systems in particular are part of the range of interventions which, through the Polis project, are involving 325 post offices on the island with a complete reorganization of spaces, aimed at improving environmental comfort and facilitating access to services.
