VARESE – The museum of Villa Mirabello speaks to the youngest thanks to the PCTO (former school-work alternation) carried out by the students of Ernesto Cairoli classical high school in Varese. Students will present the result of the work done next April 19th at 5pm at the museum, on the occasion of the “National Night of the Classical High School”.

The project

The project, consisting of study of some epigraphs displayed in the lapidary of the museum, began with the division of the material to be studied among the various groups of children and subsequently developed through the analysis of documents, studies, photographs and videos. The aim of the activity carried out was to increase the students’ skills by providing them with useful skills also in their university career and in the world of work, in addition to stimulate interest in the history and art of one’s territory to train citizens who are aware and active in valorising their cultural heritage. On the first day the class visited the Roman section of the museum with the aim of first learning about the Varese area of that era and then the individual works on display, which the students subsequently studied in depth.

A young museum

During the week of activities each group did some research regarding a chosen find and carried out in-depth studies that will serve to promote the museum and give it a greater visibility even among the youngest. Some of the kids dedicated themselves to creating flyers, another to social media publishing videos and various contents, and still others organized guided tours for visitors of all ages. «The Civic Museums of the Municipality of Varese – comments the councilor for culture Enzo Laforgia – for many years they have collaborated with secondary schools throughout the province. The students, accompanied and guided by their teachers and the expert staff of our museums, thus have the opportunity to get closer to the conservation sites and the valorization of our historical, cultural and artistic heritage, putting to the test the knowledge acquired in their specific course of study and the skills necessary for the multiple actions required by the museum machine”.
