Carpi, robbery at the Banca SanFelice1893 branch: five arrests – SulPanaro

CARPI – On 16 April the State Police executed the custody order precautionary sentence in prison issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Modena, at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office, against five citizens all of Campania origin and the measure of obligation to report to the Judicial Police for another Italian, all suspected of complicity in the aggravated robbery at the branch of viale Manzoni della SanFelice Bank 1893.

The analysis of the municipal cameras of city and motorway transits and of telephone traffic was decisive in the investigation activity conducted by the Flying Squad and the Carpi State Police station. The suspects made use of telephone cards used exclusively to commit the crime. Equally fundamental were the statements made by some suspects during interrogation.

On 7 February 2023, around 1.30 pm, two men entered the Viale Manzoni branch of the company wearing FFP2 masks. SanFelice Bank 1893 and once inside, armed with cutters, they ordered the two employees at the checkout and the three customers present to follow them. The four were then locked up in an adjoining room to give the criminals time to get their hands on the money in the coffers, around 17 thousand euros, before fleeing in a car that was waiting for them.

In addition to the two material executors, one is suspected of having participated in the organizational and executive phases by carrying out a preventive inspection and acting as a driver to allow the two kidnappers to escape; another for having stood by during the robbery, a fifth man instead maintained contact with the so-called transfer workers and the sixth suspect, i.e. the manager of a car rental company which provided logistical support and the vehicles, registering the rental contracts to fictitious people.

Three of the five who were reached by the custodial measure are already detained for a specific crime in the prison of Naples, while the other two were traced in the provinces of Siena and Ravenna. The recipient of the measure of presentation to the Judicial Police was instead traced to Naples.
