“No to the delocalisation of work abroad”: Register, strike and protest in Florence with Filcams Cgil
Register spa (digital sector, headquarters in Florence, approximately 100 employees): today, after a participatory and discussed meeting, an 8-hour strike package was decided, 4 of which were implemented immediately, with a garrison in front of the headquarters in viale Giovine Italia .
Filcams Cgil says: “The reason for the agitation is the company’s choice to access Body Rental by renting programmers abroad or rather in Romania, where in our opinion the cost of labor is much lower than in Italy and in all other European nations where the various company headquarters are located”.
THE RSU STATEMENT
Today Register workers went on strike immediately after the union meeting against the delocalization of work through “body rental” style recruitment methods or similar forms of labor exploitation. This is a very serious fact, as it is aimed at moving work out of Italy and encouraging the exploitation of workers everywhere, laying the foundations for the compression of rights, wages and workforce, in order to maximize profits. . This operation reflects the company’s lack of scruples in making work more precarious and demolishing the rights that we laboriously try to defend, against the overwhelming wave of unruly liberalism that ignores any social responsibility of the company.
We are aware that the strike is a conflictual act that marks a moment of rupture and the beginning of a mobilization, in order not to give in to the rights of workers and to guarantee that anyone hired in our company has the same protections as us.
The very high participation in the assembly, the fruitful discussion and the great support for the strike show the determination of workers in this struggle, confirming that the union representatives are the only credible interlocutor, despite the continuous attempts at delegitimization by the leaders corporate.
