LA VOCE PAVESE – VOGHERA, THE OLTREPIZZAS AND THE “OTHER PIZZAS”

La Voce Pavese by Emanuele Bottiroli: live commentary at 8pm on the event of the day in the province of Pavia.

Controversial aftermath in Voghera after the “Pizza Festival” weekend, a traveling event that stopped in the city from Friday 12th to Sunday 14th April at the former Cavalleria Barracks. The debate heated up on social media due to the disappointment of several participants and the fact that the city did not celebrate its master pizza chefs, with their fixed restaurant activities that have been handed down for generations. It seemed strange that the same city that a few months ago had launched the Oltrepizze project under the aegis of Slow Food and Enaip Lombardia, with the support of local and private bodies to create a brand dedicated to signature pizzas with ingredients top of the range of the local supply chains, authorized an event that disoriented tourists and onlookers, making them think that Voghera embodied that way of making and understanding pizza proposed as part of the “Pizza Festival”… perhaps a general reflection on marketing is necessary especially because Voghera is also one of the few cities in Italy to boast a Deco pizza (municipal designation of origin) but what’s the point if “anything goes”?
