At the event in the large Ionian dock there were many co-protagonists of the protection of the sea. Among others, taking part in the work, also the Prefect of Cosenza, Vittoria Ciaramellaand the commander of the Calabria Carabinieri Legion, Pietro Salsano. The president of the Port Authority of Gioia Tauro, the admiral, was also there Andrea Agostinelli, Mayor Flavio Stasithe president of the Third Regional Commission and candidate for mayor of Corigliano-Rossano, Pasqualina Straface. «The State is always there – recalled Prefect Ciaramella – even when it cannot be seen and Minister Musumeci has already had the opportunity to participate in conferences on other occasions, especially dedicated to the sea and the sea economy in this territory». «Today – said the highest representative of the Government in the area – is certainly an important day because talking about the economy of the sea in an area like the province of Cosenza is certainly important. The sea – concluded the Prefect – it represents the first resource and as such must be protected both to support tourism and the economy and against any exploitation.” Along the same lines as the Prefect, also the Commander Gen. Salsano which recalled the Carabinieri’s commitment to preventing and protecting against environmental crimes. «Almost 40% of the Calabrian territory – recalls Salsano – is not collected, so it is clear that there is a long process of work which mainly concerns the infrastructural aspect. Along with this, however, that environmental awareness needs to mature even if – he added – I have a lot of trust in young people who are much more attentive to this area and convey a lot of confidence for the future».
