Salone del Mobile effect on Rho, Orlandi: “for us it is as if it lasted three weeks”

Rho – It has opened to the public the 62nd edition of the “Furniture expo“an event that started under the best auspices (and a warm and serene climate, which never hurts) which gives the organizers hope of being able to beat last year’s numbers, which saw 307.418 visitors.

Meanwhile, the massive presence of enthusiasts, both Italian and foreign, and professionals is felt throughout the metropolitan city and in particular yes Rhofrom which the exhibition center where the Salone del Mobile is taking place also takes its name.

In fact, the mayor underlines Andrea Orlandi remembering how for his city it doesn’t end here. An occupation which, however, is seen in a positive way, considering that “It produces a very important spin-off for all our public businesses, for our hospitality facilities and ensures that our city participates in this event“.

Despite these positive realities, the Salone del Mobile However, it also casts some shadows on the city of Rhoparticularly on real estate market. We’ve already talked about how much short-term rentals have increased in the city in view of the event and, if these prices will certainly reduce once the Rho Fiera event is over, it is also true that these could only be the anticipation of a more or less near future. Moreover, in the areas of the city closest to the MIND rents are already increasing, and the “escape” of inhabitants from nearby Milan, always looking for new apartments with lower prices (but not too much, given their larger pockets, however), could lead to drive up prices even in the city.

“We cannot govern the market but we must ensure that each one compete on the market on equal terms and respecting the norm” The mayor specifies, then placing at the center of the discussion one of the solutions that his administration wants to pursue to deal with the high rents, at least for students: “For the future we are above all developing structures like the students which are public structures where, in some way, prices are capped and therefore it is possible to access a housing offer at a lower price than the market one“.

In this sense Rho is already making some steps forward which, up to now, are concerning the area of ​​the so-called “Steccone”or the former warehouse of the historic company “Manufacturing Union”. If it could be converted, not only would the city get a new student hall but it would see rehabilitated a structure with decades of neglect and abandonment behind it.
