PADUA – It doesn’t stop at 28 number of Catania fans identified – And daspati – for the pitch invasion last March 19th, when the first leg of the Serie C Italian Cup between Padova and Etna was played at Euganeo.

The Padua Police Headquarters is analyzing the Euganeo security cameras, both those inside and outside the stadium, to give the name and surname of the thirty violent ultras who took advantage of the opening of the unbreakable glass gate which divides the north curve from the pitch. Once the faces have been identified, it will not be difficult to trace the identities since the tickets purchased to watch the first act of the final are nominal. At the moment, among the 28 identified – some of whom were arrested – there are those who were the first to climb over the fence, put the steward who was manning the gate in a corner, opened the passage and gave the green light to the invasion. The Catania fan who tore the flag of a club of Biancoscudati supporters from the east stand was also identified and reported, a flag which was then returned the same evening. The chats are also under investigation to see if the invasion had been planned in some way.

Within a few hours 17 Catania fans had arrived from Daspo, some of them with a 10-year term, among these there are also two ultras from Etna who were repeat offenders and who in their pedigree had a leading role in the guerrilla war outside of the Massimino stadium in Catania which on 2 February 2007, after a Serie A Catania-Palermo match, had cost the life of police inspector Filippo Raciti. The investigations, however, had not stopped and just over a week ago here it is another eleven Daspo: of the recipients, except one, all were faces already known to the police, many due to previous violence at the stadium. The six ten-year Daspos hit a 30-year-old with two previous Daspos and a criminal conviction for fraud and crimes against public order; a 39-year-old with two previous and previous Daspos for injuries, fights and threats; two 24-year-olds with the same number of Daspos (one with a history of aggravated injuries); a 23-year-old with a previous Daspo and convicted for drug dealing and crimes against public order; a 21 year old with already two previous Daspos and precedents for crimes against public order and brawling. Five years for an 18-year-old convicted of injuries and aggravated sexual assault; a 23-year-old with a history of threats; a 41-year-old already convicted of receiving stolen goods, theft, robbery and injuries. The 3-year Daspo went to a 21-year-old with no criminal record.

Finally, the 23-year-old caught at the station was hit by the five-year Daspo. Upon identification he had provided the details of a minor cousin, who had never been to Padua: all because he was subject to an obligation to reside in Catania for mafia-type crimes of association and crimes against the person. In fact, in January in a nightclub, in collaboration with other offenders, he had attacked a peer at gunpoint.
