From the big screen of the Monviso cinema to the stage of the San Rocco Castagnaretta sports hall in Cuneo: the king of climbing Tommy Caldwell will be a guest on the opening day of the Cuneo Montagna Festival on Tuesday 14 May. The announcement came this evening (Tuesday 16 April) on the occasion of the screening of the documentary film “The Dawn Wall”, with which in 2017 the directors Peter Mortimer and Josh Lowell recounted the feat accomplished between the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 by Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson. The two, after years of study and preparation, in nineteen days redefined the concept of the impossible by climbing the Dawn Wall with their bare hands, an almost completely smooth wall more than 900 meters high on the El Capitan mountain, at 2307 meters above sea level in the national park of Yosemite, considered by many experts to be the most difficult climb in the world.
On Tuesday 14 May at 6pm the American climber will be the protagonist of an institutional event in the hall of honor of the Municipality of Cuneo, then at 9pm in the building the meeting with the Cuneo public entitled «Anything is possible». Tickets – 10 euros full price, 5 euros reduced for 7-18 years old, free for 0-6 years old – will be available from 8am tomorrow (Wednesday 17 April) at the link bit.ly/caldwell-cuneo. The other events of the Cuneo Montagna Festival, which will end on Sunday 19 May, will be free to enter; the program will soon be available on the website www.festivaldellamontagna.it.
